The Lettie Pate Evans Foundation makes grants to specified public charities in Georgia and Virginia. The Foundation's grant program reflects a strong emphasis in the following areas:

  • Private secondary and higher education
  • Arts and culture
  • Museums and historic preservation

Traditionally, preference has been given to one-time capital projects and to other extraordinary needs of well-established organizations with proven ability to meet their annual operating budgets. Awards for basic operating expenses usually are avoided. Grants are never made to individuals or to an organization for the benefit of a named individual. No loans.

Grants are not made to any institution or agency if a substantial part of its activities consists or carrying on propaganda or otherwise attempting to influence legislation.
